THE FIRST STEPS OF THE FOOTBALL

In 1934 forthwith the creation of the Society of deaf and dumb, its leadership asked for assistance the Bulgarian National Sports Federation for the creation of a sports organization of deaf and dumb and also in order to send deaf athletes to the IV World silent games in London in 1935. But the Society received categorical refusal. In 1936 the guidance of the oldest sports club in Sofia - Slavia / founded in 1913 / gaves its consent for the creation of a  Sports Section of the deaf with the club.

The Constituent Assembly of the Sports Section was held at the end of December 1936. The Assembly decided to establish a Sports section of the deaf with the Sports club SLAVIA.Ferdinand Urbih, German surdopedagog was elected for patron of the Section, he was  founder of educational work among the deaf in Bulgaria. Marcelo Radulov was elected as President of the Section "Urbih", and Dimitar Kraev as Secretary. The first representative team of the Section was  those for the football. At that time, the football was the most popular sport in Bulgaria. Managers, competitors and fans, all of them collect funds among themselves and both the football equipment for the footballers players - white shirts and green shorts. Our famous master of the pantomime Stefann Jossiffov, who was participant in the first football team, says that "We selected the green color as a symbol of our faith for a better future, and the white color - as a sign of thanks to the Club Slavia, which was very efficient and gave us a hand in those difficult years ".

Next year the football team of the Section Urbih" participated in the Championship sections of Sofia. After disputed race between 12 teams they occuppied the second place, after the first team "Sportist. Then the name of Urbih "became widely known to the fans of football.

Only a year and half from the beginning of the organized sports movement of the deaf in Bulgaria, was held the first international match of Sofia playground "Junak on June 28, 1938 between the national between the teams of Bulgaria and Romania, end with result 4:0 convincing victory of the Bulgarian deaf team. During the Second World War /1942-1945/ in our country there wasnt any sports activity of the deaf.In 1945 the Football club of the deaf "Urbih" forfeited his activities as section of the club "Slavia". During the next years, were create football clubs in the other 12 existing regional organizations of the deaf in all the country, as the example of the football club Urbih. International meetings were held with the teams of the deaf of Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. A National football team of deaf of Bulgaria was created -  in which most of the players were from the players of  the Football club Urbih.
